I thought the cold bug was basicly a cold soder. Meaning some electrical connection does not meet at lower tempatures.

A cold bug does not go by steppings usually, but chip by chip. It is basically a temperature just low enough to make it so your chip doesn't overclock as well as it should be. This happens with phase change every once in a while, but it is dependant on the chip itself. The only way to find out is to hook it up to phase and test it out, because you will never hit a cold bug on air or water cooling.

The Cold Bug is When the CPU reaches such a low Temp it can Operate or Operate aswel as it should..Some CPU'S have more trouble with this as others

On A64 chips, the cold-bug is a function of HTT and temp; check this figure which shows the cold-bug of my FX-55:

The linear regression depends on the chip.

From what I have seen the opterons do not have many problems with cold bugs. Its usually some of the sandiegos that will have a cold bug problem that MAY kick in at around -30*c from what I have read.

Its not a very common problem, but it does happen some times.
