This is the build i was planning on buying

Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS
AMD 4800X2 or an Opty 165
ASUS AN8-32SliDeluxe heard it was a good overclocking motherboard
OCZ PC4000 EB Dual Channel Platinum Edition
7900GT/ Sli if go with the Opty 165
PC Power & Cooling 510 SLI-PFC
2x Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
Logitech G15 2-Tone USB Wired Standard Keyboard
SAMSUNG 940b-Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor
Logitech G5 Laser
2x NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model ND-3550A
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
Thermaltake Big Typhoon

Should i buy this Socket 939 system or wait for AM2 or should i go to Intel because of Conroe Lastly should i buy a cheaper videocard(s) because no card out is Direct X 10 compatible

Based on that setup I am going to assume you have a lot of money. Based on that assumtion I would say wait for the next generation of hardware (which will be expensive for sure) and have one of the best systems around. Just my 2 cents though.

agreed, if you can wait I would. The new hardware that will come out late 2006/early 2007 will be expensive. I'd wait and save up for then if possible. If not though then that would be one good system.

well mate, i think we both are in the same quandry. i have been waiting and waiting for both AM2 and Conroe since december. and i am still waiting. right now i have come as close as possible to both of them but i am gonna wait till mid may to make up my mind but i think i will get an Intel 950 and use it till at least the end of the year by when both AM2 & Conroe should be stable platforms and have the necessary mobos and so on. suggest u ask urself whether u can wait that long. if u cant then get something now and do as i am going to do. but dont get an AMD now since u r gonna waste money if u decide to upgrade to AM2 later.

reason? because AM2 is DDR2 and therefore what u buy now for an AMD system would either go to waste or not be able to take advantage of AM2. mobo and processor will go to waste. DDR ram cannot be utilized.

btw, fill ur system specs in cp wouldya?

if you are getting a 19" monitor then there is no point in going sli becasue a linge 7900gt will handle high settings at 1280*1024 and go for the opty 165 or the 4400+ x2. there is no point in going with the 4800+ because it is not a good overclocker

Well, based on what people are saying around here, you would have to keep on waiting forever, cause they will always come out with newer and faster and more expensive hardware......

I would go with the 4800, that is what i have , ...heheheh

AM2 will not have a big performance boost over the current 939 socket. So, if you want the extra performance, you may have to wait even longer. As far as the Conroe is concerned, I personally don't think it's as good as claimed, but I could be wrong. Hopefully we can get an unbiased test after it's released.

I guess waiting or not is completely up to you, if you have the patience, by all means go ahead. If cash is no concern, build one now and another after AM2 and Conroe are released.

Dude, did you just copy the internals of that rig my my thread??

Because the mobo, CPU, RAM, Case and gfx card are the same as what i was planning on...

Great minds think alike i guess
I'm waiting fir AM2 till i upgrade my mobo and CPU. Im just hoping that AM2 will still be compatible with DDR as im planning on buying 2Gb of G.Skill HZ to go with my 7900gt.

I know AM2 will be compatible with DDR2, but will they totally scrap DDR? If so, should i wait till AM2 before buying RAM?
