The MARINE is reborn

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
My system started to act weird recently. I get BSOD 124 when gaming or folding. It was fine a month ago with same voltages and clocks so looks like my cpu, mobo or ram (maybe all) came to their end. Which is why decided to get rid of all three parts in my rig: Q9550 E0, Gigabyte X48-DQ6 and 2x2GB 1066MHz OCZ memory and replacing them with;

i7 950 (already bought)
ASUS TUF Sabertooth X58 and (or any other you recommend)
3x2GB Corsair XMS3 or GSkill Ripjaws 1600Mhz CL8 memory (or any other you recommend)

I'm a bit tight on budget but still want to get the most durable parts if not fancy that money can buy. ASUS TUF Sabertooth seemed to me like it can last very long to my tortures and overclocks. So i'm going to buy it. If you know please name any other affordable X58 mobo that outperforms TUF Sabertooth in terms of durability.

When it comes to memory; i want it triple channel, i want it 3x2GB and i want it to be a proven good overclocker. So far i could find Corsair XMS3 and GSkill Ripjaws as you can see above. Unfortunately i don't have any solid information whether they overclock well or not. So i'm open any info you guys can give me regarding overclock headroom these memories have. Or any other memory you can suggest with this configuration.

Thanks in advance.

Everything looks really good, though for a motherboard the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R may overclock better. That is just what I have heard, I have never had a Sabertooth to compare to, however.

Looks good overall though.
