Overclocking P4 2,4 Northwood B

Thread Starter
My pc is:
P4 2,4Ghz Northwood B 533FSB
mobo: (MSI) MS-6547 (v2.1) ATX Mainboard
ram: 2x256Mb PC 2700 333Mhz

current overclock:

When i tried to raise the Fsb to 155Mhz and with vcore=1,6v(max value) the pc didn't make it to load windows! the cpu:dram divider is set to 4:3 and the timings of the ram were at safe mode!(option by my mobo!) and the vddr=2,8v (max value).

Is 2,7Mhz the maximum that i can reach?
any comments are welcome
thank you.

Hi boom123 and Welcome!

You may have hit the limit. I'm not that familiar with this motherboard, but will it allow increases of 1Mhz only?? If your at 150, then the next step would be 151, then 152, so on. At some point you'll hit the wall as you stated that may be 155fsb.

One other thing that might be effecting you is heat. Do you know the temperatures of the cpu, inside of the case and room temps. All of these will also play a part, since you have the max voltage dialed up.

I hope this helped, :-)

Check the link in my sig there. I got mine to 2.97, 1:1. Perhaps it's the mobo. I have my vCore at 1.68v.
