The only parts damaged are from the vrm, it's not like i held a zippo to it or anything...

If this were an isolated incident I'd say that you were right. However, since there has been a lot of MSI boards failing with the Thubans in this exact spot, it's no longer an assumption to believe that the boards simply cannot handle the current required to power the hexacore's at high frequencies.
Which is really unfortunate, because I really like my GD70.

I would suggest choosing a different board, unless you wish to repeat the results of many other users.

its like my only option i was gonna get the ASUS Crosshair IV Formula but people were still getting new boards w high NB temps. There aren't too many good AMD boards w "333" and 2 PCI 2.0 x16 ports.

There is a pretty large number of quality AMD boards that will handle a Thuban better than MSI's mediocrity.
