Amd 4400+ Or Fx-55???? - Page 4

I don't think it's worth to upgrade from a 3500 @2.6GHz to a 4000 that could go @2.8-2.85. The performance difference from 300MHz isn't that high...I'd go for a dual core as the gaming this year will lean towards multicore, you've probably seen the benches with the latest patches for Quake4, CoD2 or Farcry, they already make a difference.

Bro, the performance increase is gonna be very noticeable over his current cpu, the 4000+ has a 1mb L2 cache aswell which will give him a notable difference in performance and games from his current setup, to me its definately worth the upgrade and then a bag of chips to celebrate when hes kicking arse in games with a more powerfull cpu

The 4000+ is a waste of money. Either get the 3700+, or go for the FX55. The 3700+ will overclock the same, or better, and will save you $100. The FX55 has unlocked multipliers, so it's easy as cake to overclock.

This is true, there would be a good performance increase between the 3500 and the 4000 mainly because he is cpu limited, that vid card could use some more CPU power, but from another pow I seriously doubt it's worth the money he would be spending on the 4000. The 3700 san diego seems like a much better choice: cheap and OCs almost the same as the 4000.
On the other hand an opty 165 OCed @2.6GHz would be almost in the same league as the ones mentioned above, but if he is the kind of user that has also some downloads in the background and the winamp playing music (like me for ex ) the dual core can be of much better value, but that's just me.

As indicated by other user's, neither.

if you intend to use this configuration for only the next year save your money and just go with the single core 3700+Sandiego.
These are fine overclockers and will meet all your current gamming needs.

Anyways just offering up my own opinion and the direction I would take.

the problem is maybe my asus sli deluxe.

my motherboard it´s not a very good overclocker and it´s with 1016 bios and it only gets until 1´55v or 1´6v.

that´s why i don´t know which level of oc i can get with that.

i´ll love to have 2´8mhz!!!!
