Thank you for the welcome. To further elaborate on that mess up there... One of the drives (the faster one) was on a mode 5 channel on the motherboard while the other was connected with a 40 wire cable (mode 2) on the secondary channel; It was my intention to set the two up as a dynamic disk, and I was crushed when the second 80 wire cable I had ate it. The slow transfer rates of the old cable crippled the dynamic (striped) disks transfer speeds. I borrowed a 80 pin cable though and I've now got the things running correctly. Check out the updated benches below. There is an ATTO benchmark (left ATTO screen) showing the single drives performance (before the RAID) and the one to its right shows the performance of the array. The single 40 Gb was running rather low on space and the doubled space was necessary, the fact that I've improved the performance is just a bonus.
