Yeah, the EU userbase is very healthy smile.gif I didn't realize NA was that bad though.

As a panther driver I must say that I have loads of fun. I just support the heavies up front while sticking at the back of the pack, I can move from battle to battle, to help our team and just snipe them like a boss.

The most kills I had in this tank was when I was top tear and well I think the pic is still up there in one of my posts tongue.gif Lower tiers just can't touch you if you play swiftly.

I could post a replay some time if I happen to be recording tongue.gif

Yup, NA server pop is MM's biggest downfall, so many people complain about MM but they don't realize that with a healthy pop like RU and EU have MM does indeed work great really.

But being in the last 5 Tier slots typically on say a 9 out of 10 match session makes the Panther a bit underpowered and very noticeable. Not saying no matches ever go good but dang, T20 and even T-43 felt better, of course that was a good bit ago now haha.

Also, I can't wait for new game modes, doesn't EU have them already?

Not sure which ones we have that you guys don't.

Basically, training - clan - platoon and random matches.

I agree that the Panther is a bit underpowered, it lacks the alpha damage that the others have.
This is largely because both American and Russian tanks got buffed in these past few patches, while German tanks have stayed pretty much the same. It's ludicrous that German tanks, which were developed and made in the 30s-40s have to compete with some 50s designs. At the same time it's ridiculous that in a WW II game as it is now, the German tanks aren't that impressive.

For example : A Tiger was the horror of every Allied tank commander, in the game, it gets penned all over the place and only really good players can fulfil its potential.

The scales basically went from :

Slightly below average - US
Average - German
Slightly above average - Russian

to

Slightly below average - German
Average - US
A fair bit above average - Russian

It's clear that this game is made by Russians. But... what can you do. In terms of historical accuracy German tanks should be sitting where the Russians are at now.

I say, give the Panther a slight Alpha buff and a little more bounce or traverse and it'll do perfectly fine among the other mediums, now it's just an epic sniper (with fairly low alpha damage) but that's about it.

Just noticed this thread, my nephew got me hooked on WOT, love the game and play it almost daily. I'm Detroitac1, currently playing Obj 704, but I also have Type59, BatChat, GW typ E, Valentine, T-50-2. These are all fun tanks to play, not necessarily brawlers (except the type, I like getting ram kills with it), you have to play them all very differently.

If you've never tried Valentine, try it. I get in all tier 4 or 5 battles where it cleans up against those poor players. It's not fair, hehe...

Some new game modes finally. NA got 7.4 today, and EU will be tomm.

Looks like a fair enough reason to jump head first in a bit again. thumb.gif

i just started playing this, over the weekend. I suck and my tanks suck but i definitely see the appeal.

My main question is this... is the main focus to get into a heavy tank? is there any real reason to put the time and credits into say a high tier medium?

Really the main focus should be to just have fun. Higher tiers play differently than lower tiers, and you might not like them as much. Or you might love them. Just gotta try it to find out.

Most of my stuff right now is Tier III - V, but I still play Tier 1 MS-1's just for fun. Find a tank you like and play, the game doesn't force you to upgrade.
I did finally get a heavy tank (Soviet KV-1) and I haven't figured out my playing style with it. You can take more damage than anything else but you're also very slow, so you have to anticipate your enemy's movements and if you're wrong you're probably too far away to make a difference. I'm not sure I like driving heavy tanks.

Personally I like medium tanks and arty, I mostly play on my Soviet T-28 and SU-5. The T-28 is pretty fast so I can zip around the battlefield and add support where it's needed most. On the SU-5 I usually just die because of useless random teammates who don't understand how to defend arty so I get killed by a T-50-2 around fifteen seconds into the game because I'm so slow and everyone else has left the spawn area already.

Actually WG just announced not too long ago that there will be Tier 10 Mediums and TDs.
http://worldoftanks.com/news/1346-tier-10-mediums-and-tds-announced/

If you are interested in getting into endgame competitive stuff (like clan wars) almost every line is viable now. Just go down which ever line is the most appealing to you. Tournaments like the recent E3 one use all different tiers so there is no ultimatum to play only top tier tanks. You may just want to find a tank you really enjoy and stick with it if you are just playing for fun.

For Clan Wars you will probably want to go with heavies first because they are the most frequently used right now. Good arty, medium and TD players will be equally valuable in clan wars, especially after the introduction of the new tier 10s.

BTW my IGN is _Loner_
http://worldoftanks.com/community/accounts/1001133968-_loner_/

I recognize some names in this thread. Feel free to message me in game if you want to play or just chat.

Well I just started playing WOT, wow what a fun game! Most of the time. . .

Just got into tier 3 light tank and arty.

There are several things I find extremely annoying. When I get into my T3 Arty it puts me in battles against T6 and even T8 tanks, I hit them and take 1% off their total HP, most of the time I do 0 damage, stupid and annoying. When I get into my T2 arty, it usually does the same thing accept its T4/T5 tanks. I have been on several matches where me and 2 others are in T2 light tanks and get thrown into battle with T4/T5 tanks and the other team has all T3 and T4/T5, we are the only T2 tanks in the game and all on 1 side, we usually get one shotted from an enemy we cannot see.

Another thing the enemy usually always sees and shoots first, there have been several battles where I have been killed from an invisible enemy that was only 100M away spotted by a friendly only after I died, what the hell? Ya I have a visible range of 280m and was hiding in a bush with camo activated grrr.

When you get a good battle going the game is great fun! There are however far too many battles that are lopsided on either side. We have had 1 flawless victory so far in a T2/T3 tank battle, we didn’t lose a single tank. I wish they would either take player skill into account or make a VOIP for much better communication and strategy for the entire team, not just 2/3 tanks. I still hop into my T1 tank for a few fun games when I get my butt kicked because they pair my T2 tank against T4’s and 5’s. . .

Hey max!

WoT has its little annoying niggles that are hard to escape I'm afraid, but we all just push through them for those super fun battles.

Couple of things to address your points here: As artillery you will always be put in a battle with much higher tier tanks than you. For the first few levels this is almost unbearable but once you reach tier 5/6, it evens out. This is done because artillery can do such high damage- a Tier 5 artillery can 1-shot a tier 8 heavy tank, if it gets a good hit. grinding through artillery is unfortunately slow and frustrating so its best to have another fun tank to jump on to. The tier 4 and 5's mediums are always fun so get yourself into one of those thumb.gif

As for enemies not being spotted, this can rely on many things- the view range of the tank, skill level of the crew, line of sight, lay of the land, ect. Certain tanks also have bonus' to camouflage. Tank destroyers for example are a lot harder to spot and reveal than a normal tank. In that situation you described, you may have just been unlucky though!

VOIP is in the game, but not many people use it. It is accessible in the options menu if you want to turn it on. Does not work well due to the multinational community of the game though. tongue.gif

Add me up if you want, Name is Evil262.

Currently playing everything from a T3 medium tank, though to a E75. See you on the battlefield smile.gif
