Does your board support SATA? if so i'd go for a SATA disk otherwise get a standard IDE drive. What sort of budget do you have?

If your Motherboard As said above Supports a SATA hdd Interface then get that as its alot faster. With SATA 1 you get 150MB a second Transfer rate and with SATA2 you get 300MB a second transfer rate with data flowing from motherboard to HDD.

If your board supports serial ATA, get SATA, if not, IDE works great. Western Digital is a good brand.

Try this one ... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144392

I would recommend Seagate HDD I've heard bad raps about Western Digital and Maxtor developing bad sectors within a couple of years....not saying this is always the case but my Seagates have always lasted me 5+ years without problem.

Here is a link With s little info on SATA: http://www.byteandswitch.com/document.asp?doc_id=82103

I would get a Western Digital over most brands as it is very Relialbe and use them all the time..Seagate are also a good brand but run away From Maxtor.

Yes indeed. My wester digital has not failed me once at all for the past 3 years. It is still running smooth as hell.

I've never had a WD fail me. I just got a new 250, 16, sata-II and its been great. It's the WD2500KS if you're interested. It's about 90 on newegg.

Like i have said stay away form Maxtor if at all possible they do have bad REP for being Dead on arrival or just being very poor performance wise.

Look at the Hitachi drives too, they're very underestimated.
