Temps

Thread Starter
My 2500+ barton runs fine at 200fsb, but my temps seem a bit high. Even at stock speeds I'm over 50c, at 200fsb I run 68c idle upper 70's loaded, sometimes 80c when stressing. I bought an aftermarket all copper cooler with a larger/faster fan but it didn't help a whole lot. Yes the heatsink is installed correctly and so is the as5. I'm on a gigabyte ga-7n400 with award rev. f6 bios. How long you think this cpu will last at these temps? I've had it for about three years now overclocked roughly 25% of the time, alot more here lately with the newer games. I've also done a few extreme benchies at 2.5ghz with system locks around 90c. The cpu works fine right now (68c@2.2ghz as I type this) but you think I should order a backup now?

..what temps did you have before your aftermarket cooler?...also what tempertaure monitor are you using, is your bios reporting the same temps? You say your cpu is overclocked, how much voltage are you feeding it?..I kno youve said that youve installed the hsf and as5 correctly, but just to be sure install it again..making sure you use a very small amount of as5, just a very small drop in the centre and let the weight of the hsf spread the as5 out...after all this if your still getting very high temps, your temperature diodes could be reading incorrectly

those older AMD CPUs usually operate at higher volts than the current AMD64 proc....u need to check and recheck those temps with various windows temp programs and check those against your bios temps...this will confirm or deny your temps...FYI the stock Vcore for this CPU is 1.65 volts!!
Max temp for this proc is 85C
