As of right now I give up on giving computer advice on POTN. They're just like your average mom and pop over there - they always think they know everything about computers and if you do so much as to call drobos overpriced plastic boxes they shoot you down like you just insulted their mother.
I've seen your posts and gave up on there as well. It seems like everyone wants to go "Durrhurr Mac lolz". I mean, that one post on how PCs are unstable and are ill-suited for graphics work? My two-week-without-a-crash PC begs to differ.
On the other hand, POTN is an untapped market for your mechanical keyboard threads. Just saying!

rofl, I'm not going to bother. I know all I'm going to get is "but mac keyboards match my magic mouse!"
You should see the guy asking for a recommendation on a gaming monitor. I say get a GDM-FW900, and his response?

Clearly you neglected to acknowledge my concern was having a matching monitor to my u2311h....
I guess we should match our monitors like we match our socks now.

And I thought kids on THIS forum were bad!

I totally agree, so much so that I don't even bother contributing to computing discussions at POTN. There are of course many very knowledgeable photographers there, who are typically well versed in software (PS, LS, etc.) which leads them to assume that they also know hardware. I especially hate when these same people try to give build advice never having built a rig themselves!

I mean, Macs are nice computers, but they're not for everyone and they're certainly not the only computers capable of running PS + LR.
I think I'll be sticking to the equipment, people, and FS forums there. Less people there that make me want to pull my hair out.
Oh that just gave me an idea for a self portrait!
Yes, that's always a hornets' nest there. We have two PCs and two Macs in our household (the wife brought the Macs
), and in using both for photo editing, I have yet to see how Mac excels better than my rig. And I absolutely hate when people bring out that canned response that Macs are better for graphic design!
I think if all of us on OCN and POTN should actually start posting more in that subforum. Then they will eventually listen to us.
On a skate filming site I used to frequent they would always be like HURRR MAC IS THE BEST FOR VIDEO EDITING. Me and two other tech knowledgeable members showed them they had viable options. It actually worked until one of them became a mod and opened his web shop selling Hackintoshes.

I would love to see ANY mac out perform any of my PCs at ANYTHING other than cost. I'll even go as far to say my matching peripherals match better.
With that said it's not about who's is better unless you're on that specific subject, but what do you like better... Just some people are too closed minded to see it.
I would tend to agree though... I love getting the response... My mac does graphics/movies better... My simple question back is: "Why?" And their response "...".

mac can code develop for iOSX better then a PC. they can also install OSX software better then a PC can.

Put simply: It's a decent display, but it's only middle of the road compared to other displays in it's price range. The Dell U2711 uses the same LCD panel but opts for a CCFL backlight: which gives you a wider gamut, better contrast, and a more accurate white point.

LOL. I gave up a long time ago too. Once you get too technical, they tend to ignore you even though you're trying to help. Or at least that's my experience.

P.S- I posted in that thread
Yeah well, this is the first time I try since I posted this thread and look where it got me...

Yeah, except they think there isn't anything out there aside from Model M's!
Maybe there's a new mac27" that uses oleds that you don't know about
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
