Software for slowing down songs

Thread Starter

Hi there guys. I need a program for a friend (guitar player) that will slow down the tempo/speed of a tipical song. The key that the song is played at should remain the same during the slow down process, so he will be able to listen, understand and eventually reproduce the song.

I already have a program that successfully does this job - "Amazing Slow Downer" (see links) but he is not entirely satisfied with this one. Do you guys know any other software out there that will do this for him?

Thanks for any help.

Probably the best free audio software in the entire world.

I have created MULTIPLE live dubstep mixes with Audacity and they've turned out fine.

yea gold wave seems to work. Also just noticed; the pitch is the actuall parameter that needs to be changed in order to slow down the song. Changing the speed of the song changes the key of the song too while pitch just changes the tempo (i think ?) and keeps the same key. I will try audacity in a few min.

Goldwave is wonderful. Winamp has a plug-in under DSP/effect that will load effect profiles, one of the default effects is for playback speed. Preferences>plug-ins>DSP/effect>Nullsoft Signal processing studio DSP.
Most video players have a speed reduction option to slow the playback down, I assume those would work too.

I doubt this will help, but he should get the chart for it, and read that.
