we have hard disks. im wondering if i should tell him to get an i5, and drop the GPU. he is using it for office/sims

The 450 is the lowest GPU i'd get. I'd drop the case/psu and get a 460 and a AMD x4 for MUCH more computer for the cash

As i was saying cut expenses when it comes to irrelevant stuff.... come on, i have huge power consumption compared to that rig and im fine with a 550 W PSU , as durch said get and antec 300 , something arround 500 W PSU antec,cooler master and corsair are great brands and definitely upgrade that video card to a GTX 460. Lets hope that his friend understands our point here.
