40% d830 overclock. need to go higher

Thread Starter
hey guys i have recently gotten my d830 to 4.2ghz at 1.55v and i am hitting a wall. with anything higher the windows load screen freezes.

i have done all the normal things such at lock bus frequencies and so forth.

here is my cpu-z verification, you can see i am running a 2:3 divider.

Try a 1:1 ratio and 2.3Vdimm.

Try locking the PCI-E to 105.

Disable features in the BIOS. Like hyper path 3 if you have such, set performance mode to "disable" if you have such. There could be others as well.

Try 5-4-4-12 (4), maybe RAM could be the one hitting the wall.

Last, I'd check into buying a new PowerSupply. I honestly don't trust Antec PSUs at all for when it comes down to overclocking Pentium processors.

personaly i have a sneaky suspision that my power supply is part of the problem because at 4.2 sometimes i get randow reboots which makes me think that my power supply is not up to the task.

i will try some of the things you suggest. But sence my rams stock speed is 800mhz would it be possible to underclock to the point of 1:1?

You shouldnt have to underclock the ram, becaue it is not your problem. I think your main problem is CPU voltage, I hit the same wall with my 820. I have since fixed the Droop problem I had and have been able to reach much better clocks with much less head aches.
