I just ordered this x850xt
. My friend has one and he gets like 250fps in CounterStrike. Also, Anandtech
just did a series of benchmarks on all graphics cards x800 level and higher, the x850xt can even run oblivion at medium settings with a 30fps average at 1024x768 size. It is quite the bang for the buck if you don't mind sacrificing a bit of image quality (no SM3/HDR) for a good speed card.
Btw, the x850xt I linked is the retail sapphire package with Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia. I haven't played them before (my card is scheduled to arrive tomorrow), but if you do get one, this is the best bundle, as it is only like $10 more than the retail package with only a driver CD.
On the other hand, if you want highest image quality, but are willing to sacrifice speed, the x1800gto will suit you. If you want the middle of the road, get a 7600 GT (SM3 OR
HDR) and a tad faster than an x1800gto in most benches I've seen.
Like MjrTom said, though, if you're getting a card now that is not going to be the highest quality, you might as well go for speed--and nothing sub-200 beats the x850xt.
