Physics in the GRAW demo

After seeing the little video's on the Ageia site, I noticed that one video was without the chip in, and the other one was. Obviously the video with the chip in looked far superior.

Now, the thing is, does this mean that most of the physics are cut out if you do not own the card, and then the card actually "unlocks" part of the game?

If so, do you think there is a way of "unlocking" these physics if you do not own the card?

I do not think it will take much of a hit to the system, I tried the physics demo in the drivers and runs perfectly, when running it in software mode.

Currently I am downloading the demo, so I shall have a look at it first.

If you forced it to use the 'new' physics stuff with out the card, it would be like trying to force onboard graphics to play obvilvion @ 1600x1200 with 16xAA. Its not going to happen.

This is pure speculation, but I would presume it would work similar to hardware audio acceleration or 2D/3D video acceleration: you can enable it or disable it at will. But with hardware physics acceleration turned on, you should be able to process a lot more stuff going on. Whether any of this extra stuff is a configuration option (like turning on or off different levels of AA or shadowing in the video settings) is up to the game designers, but I presume they would let you do it since everyone's machine and tolerance level for frame reate hits will be different.

Yes it is speculation, but it would be interesting none the less.

If it does turn out like this, and I manage to get it turned on, then I shall post some numbers up to see the performance hits.
