Big Typhoon fan question.

Thread Starter
Alright I just got my Big Typhoon and an ASUS P5LD2 motherboard in the mail and noticed that the BT has a 3-pin connector and my motherboard's CPU Fan slot is 4-pin. So until I get a 3-pin to 4-pin connector I am putting a Dell stock 4-Pin fan on top of the BT's heatsink. I'm wondering, will putting a stock fan on the BT lower it's performance allot or will it be alright? The stock fan is 120mm so it fits.

It depends what the other fans cfm is.
The BT's stock fan has 54cfm
If the other fan has 54cfm the performance will be about the same, anyless the performance will be less, anymore the perfromance will be greater.

I cant really explain it, but the 3 pin will fit on the 4 pin with one pin sticking out. I believe the Intel stock cooler uses the 4th pin. Remember, it will only fit one way, so dont force anything

Well the Dell does fit and I was just wondering because the ASUS motherboard booklet said to use the 4-pin cpu fan slot, I didn't know if a pin not being used would matter, thanks.

Also the stock fan is a Nidec TA450DC and it says on the website it has 110 to 130 CFM. Does that make it better than the BT's stock fan?

http://www.nidec.com/ta450dc7/ta450dc7.htm

Here is a link to the fan. My specific model number isn't on the list but I don't think it's far off from any of those.

Dell's stock fan is a 130 CFM Nidec?

Ya man...rock that! It's better if that's true.

I remember them saying on the website that you can put the 3 pin connector into the 4 pin pulgs. They talk about that situation specifically in their instructions for the BT installation!!!!!

Well that would be the problem right there. my cat kicked a can of pop over onto the manual of the BT so I couldn't read it. Also I think my fan has a cfm of 110-130, it's a Nidec TA450DC so even if my model number isn't listed, i think it would be about the same.
