Bfg 7900 Gt

Thread Starter
Just got this card a week or so ago. This will be my first attempt at an overclock with an Nvidia. I installed a Zalman GPU cooling system today. I've done some research on the forums but I'm not finding what I need so I figured I'd just throw the question out there myself. There is apparently 3 major applications to use for overclocking NVIDIA graphics cards. Coolbits, NvTweak, and RivaTuner. I tried running RivaTuner first which was recommended to me the most. However it doesn't seem this is compatible with the 7900 GT's yet. Then I tried coolbits which looks like it could work well if it recognized anything over 800Mhz for the Core and Memory speeds. It also looks like NvTweak has the same problem. Hopefully you guys can shed some light on the topic for me.

I used ATITool for mine. Works great. (use the "new" artifact detection..not the old one)

Also, you should look into the conductive paint vmod for that card...I did it with a zalman vf900CU, and the overclock is INSANE!!! Plus it's runnin nice and cool.

Can you post me the links for info on that mod. I'm just assuming I can find ATITool at guru3d. If not would you mind linking that too. Sorry I'm at work right now.

I plan on doing the vmod when I get my watercooling setup done, I figure since I already void the warranty by removing the cooler I might as well add the conductive paint to vmod it, I just need to get my hands on a multimeter

Granted I've already put a new cooler on so I voided the warranty. But how safe is this really. I'm a little paranoid about it cause I'm not gonna lie I do shake quite a bit.

The conductive paint method can be removed with nail polish remover so it's sfer than trying to solder on resistors

My guess was for people to not look at it, it looks like the resistors you would need to solder for the 1.6 and 1.7V mods

I plan on doing it when my WC'ing setup is done, so I'd say 2 more weeks and I'll have mine done

How did you get ATI Tool to read anything above around 800Mhz. When I load mine up it has three pairs of settings. 2d, 3d lower power, 3d performance. All I believe max out at around 800Mhz. When I was playing with the settings yesterday and I believe I was doing the OC right I was getting around 550/650. I'm confused if there is something I'm doing wrong. I'm seeing all these people with numbers over 1000Mhz. I know I don't have the vMod yet but I think I still should be able to go over 550/650. Perhaps you can help me out with this or post a link for me.
