AMD 4000+ OC Question to all 4000+ Owners

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm wondering if you could help me out a bit. I maxed out my 4000+ SD at 2.8ghz (regardless if I use an 11x or a 12x) using 1.600v on my cpu. My mobo and ram are definitly not limiting me and I'm using a TT BT with a mad dog 100CFM fan o top of it. I read that review of my mobo (A8R32-MVP) on anandtech.com and they pushed our cpu to 3ghz on air! I also see many people around the 2.9ghz range on air. I'm thinking its some weird setting, like a PEG or something, any advice guys?

sorry I'm not a 4000 owner, but I have a piece of advice, hope u dont mind...CPUs are so crazy, the same model and date can vary when OCing, u never know what kind of processor u have, the same model is not going to OC the same, The OPTY 170 I bought was unstable even at 2.6 when other people could get 2.8-3.0 on air

2.8Ghz was the max I could get out of my 4000+ @ 1.65v. All luck of the draw really.

off topic question- What kind of 3dmark scores are you getting with that crossfire setup?

The chip may be maxing out, but I would try just a tad more voltage. I have seen people run 1.7 in that chip on air.
As long as you have your temp under control I would definatly try 1.7 or so.

Have you also tested to see if your memory is holding you back?

At stock 3dmark, i'm getting very close to 8000.
At 1920x1080, 16x AF, I'm getting a little over 6500.

I have tested and my mem is def. not holding me back. How can I increase voltages more? My mobo only lets me do 1.4500 + .200 extra? BTW My temp is only at like 45* C load, so the temp should be fine.
