I'll be posting Newegg links for all the important components, so if you see any faults, or know of a better product, let me know! I've actually done quite a bit of research, and I'm going for a decent high end system, but at a very smart price/performance ratio. I do realize this is no longer an AMD build, so if a Mod wants to move this, please do.

Hopefully the new ATI cards don't push me over $3,000, as that's the budget I set for myself. I appreciate any suggestions!

Killer build. I'd change that SSD and get a lower capacity one and wait December 13th to buy a HD 69** line Graphics card with the money you saved, 500+ Dollars? OMG! But, if you want it that's ok. What will this PC be used for? 16GB Of ram is a lot. I'd suggest the Xonar line of Sound Cards instead of the creative. The Xonar Dx/D1 is as good as this one and cheaper.

Oh sorry, forgot to mention that this rig is strictly for gaming, though I want super fast performance in everything I do (hence the high end SSD). Money isn't *too* much of an issue, I plan on adding more SSD's when I can, and maybe upgrade the GPU's in about 2-3 years.

Is the RAM too much? I suppose 8 would be just fine...? I'll look at the Xonar, thanks!

For gaming, is plenty enough an AMD build.

The SSD will not give you any FPS performance, it will reduce your times to load a game. YOu should lower it and get a better card. THe HD 6870 is a good card, but i don't see the need of waste 500+ dollars on SSD's instead on a killer Graphics card.

I'm not a n00b, I know the truth. I know I can OC the AMD to 4 GHZ easily, and the only card that's a direct comparison is the Intel 980 that's currently $950. $229 vs $950...while that Intel one is probably 10% faster, it's in no way worth sinking in another ~$720, and especially more so since the CPU won't be the bottleneck.

Would prefer replies from impartial posters if possible, fanboys scare me.

If you only game/use internet/media you will only need 1/4 of the RAM you are getting. Spend your money on better RAM with lower timings/higher speed.

If you like the look of the HAF 932, get the HAF X. It's a better case overall. Also, with the amount of money you are spending it would be silly not to get a modular power supply. Go for the 850HX. You are also missing a CPU cooler, without which you won't be able to push 4GHz on your CPU. Go for a H70 or whatever air cooler is best right now, I don't know because they release them so fast.

You only need 4gb of RAM for gaming. Any more and you stress the bus more resulting in having to set looser timings and slower speeds. Better to have faster tighter timed RAM then a metric ton of it. Go for a higher end RAM and get one 2x2gb set. You likely won't notice any difference.

The SSD, while nice, can be downgraded. It won't help for games (except Crytek games, and again only slightly) other than loading times and is a HUGE money sink for a gaming rig. Get a Intel X25-M for booting and a Samsung Spinpoint F3 for storage instead, which will save you $200.
