X2 3800+ stepping

Thread Starter
cpu-z reports my stepping as "1"
haha that doesn't quite sound right... should be e4 or e6 correct?
or is it under revision? i get a reading of BH-E4 assuming that would mean its of the E4 stepping?

btw i set it to 150mV so i think cpu-z read that voltage wrong... it should be 1.5V i believe.
anyone know of a good voltage reading utility?

no that is correct, I have the same value of 1 under my stepping and my revision also says BH-E4, so everthing is fine, try the progarm speedfan, its what I use

The Number 1 in CPU-z is not your stepping. Your stepping can only be found on the top of your CPU, its the second line. That #1 I believe means that it is the first revision. Your revision is an E4. AMD termenology is different then ours. I believe they call the revisions stepping. We would consider the stepping to be some thing like: KACAE or KAB2E batch week 0602, or something along those lines.

you can't tell, only by looking at the top of your processers IHS. Stepping only plays a minor part in an overclock though IMO.

damnit i sanded it! lol (super fine grit, finished it off with something finer than any sandpaper, it says "fibratex" on it)
duno i asked my dad to bring some sandpaper home from work but he brought me this fancy stuff instead... gives me an extremely fine powder out of copper
how in the world am i gonna tell now??!

yea i know it doesnt matter... but its all about bragging rights to me.
i mean im a gamer, i play games... as long as i get decent fps then cpu speed doesnt matter for anything other than bragging rights lol
once i get water cooling (which im 99% decided on) i hope to get this cpu to at least 2.65ghz... maybe i'll even be able to hit 2.8ghz if the cooling is good enough and my cpu doesn't need a lot more overvoltage... id say 1.6V will be about what i'll max at if i need to.
people have said 1.65V should be safe... but voltage will kill my cpu!!
know of any reliable software voltage measurement utilities? cpu-z isnt accurate enough...
and if my bios is correct, then i should be running at 1.5V currently.
