The 750 is a better overclocker with a lot less heat they say.Unless you can actually use the hyper thread.
What about the 760? Does it OC just as well?

and does turning off the HT on the 870 make it cooler?

It does cool well. Mine on air at 4GHz stayed under 70c at full load.

Pretty sure the only difference between 760, and 750 is the stock clock speeds.

Probably not huh? Cut another corner and crossfire if you can yea.
It's better to have a single GPU solution now and then crossfire later down the road. If OP saved money from downgrading the RAM hes better waiting the HD 69** series and just buy one of those than HD 6870 Crossfire.

Or he could sell his 240gb SSD for $500
buy an 80gb for $180, then have $320 to spend on a better card

Guys. The biggest problem with this build that I forgot to mention is the case. I want a SFF case because I need to store it at the end of the year. Therefore I need a relatively short video card and the 6870 fits the bill for now. There is 35cm of room in the case, but to have the H-50 mounted in the front[as intake - I don't want it top mounted], I would have to have a card under about 11 inches. I have settled on the case because of the size, price and design. What would that leave me with then?

I think you're right, it has the x21 instead of the x20 cpu multiplier,

To the OP, it might be worth getting the i7-875k thats my next upgrade, gonna push it to 4.5ghz with the unlocked multiplier.

also the 6870 will be your biggest bottleneck, although, its still a decent card, with the mobo you've picked too there is space for a multi gpu config, i think dropping down a model or two in gpu and doubling up would see you at you're peak performance.
