Slow Build - Intermediate Gaming PC

Thread Starter
This PC is for myself. Its an "intermediate" gaming PC as I am getting a PS3 for Christmas and have past the age of a "hardcore" gamer.

I mainly use my PC for browsing the net, photoshopping, a bit of video editing etc. However I still want to play on Crysis 2 when it comes out and my games I already own.

Feel free to comment and suggest as this isn't final yet. My current Sig Rig, will be going toward converted into a home server for streaming content to the TV and storing stuff.

Well obviously the G.Skill RAM's timings will be tighter. You are comparing a stick of DDR3-2000 RAM to DDR3-1600 RAM. The Mushkins definitely beat out the G.Skills you linked. Plus Mushkin makes higher quality RAM in my opinion and you are much less likely to get a DOA stick. Of course I have always been a Mushkin advocate.

But if you don't want to spend the money the G.Skills wouldn't be a bad choice. The Mushkins are just faster sticks of RAM. RAM doesn't really make much of a performance difference though except in benchmarks.

Why do all of your threads end up being just me and you posting?

Anyway I don't know about what your prices are over there but usually around that price point I recommend the Megahalems. It is old but it is still one hell of a cooler.

I'm not entirely sure if it will fit though. Make some measurements once you get your case, you can live with stock cooling until then. It'll probably be pretty close, just measure it.

Yea you will be okay. If you go SLI or Crossfire then you may want to upgrade to a 700 or 750w. For just one card though you'll be completely fine.
