hi.

i just bought a fx-55 and i´ll receive it on monday. it´s the sledgehammer.

i´m worry because i read a lot that the maximum overclock that i will get from it with my air cooling (thermaltake or thermalright) is 2´8mhz.

has somebody this cpu or know something about it???

thank you

probably if your really good at oc u might be able to hit 2.95 or 3.0 with some water cooling but maybe 2.7 or 2.8

oldschool fx-55? why? I woulda just bought the newest one.

Anyways....ya, you're gonna get about 2.8....depends a lot on so many variables that we can't really give you an exact number though.

Good luck.

Where did you buy it from, also are you using the newest version of cpu-z, because when I got mine it said it was a sledgehammer, turns out it was a SD, the new version shows the correct core.

With good air coo;ing, ram, mb, you should beable to 3.0ghz if everything is right.

i have the asus sli deluxe and ocz 2gb plat xtc ddr400 2-3-2-5. the air cooling it´s a ok one. thermaltake or thermalright.

in the bios 1016 of the asus sli i can only get 1´6v maximum so i´m disapointed with my expensive purchase if i can only get 2´8mhz.

is there much diference from my 2´6mhz in the 3500 winchester that i have now and the 2´8mhz from the fx-55????

tell me the truth even if it hurts.....

Even with that setup you should beable to get close to 3.0ghz. this FX-57 dosen't use a lot of vcore, right now at 1.50volts. do some testing at what your max's are, Mb, Ram & Cpu.

yep sledgehammer is 130nm isnt it? that = much more heat than 90nm.
anyways.... 2.8GHz is actually a LOT of speed for AMD.
in fact, 2.6GHz is a LOT also!
either way, it all depends on how good the heatsink is. thermaltake and thermalright make cooler solutions, and quieter solutions as well.
either way, i think you would have had a much better chance at overclocking an fx-55 90nm on air than you would have with an fx-55 130nm on water.
