Are my temps high?

Thread Starter
I recently built my first computer about a month ago and have been on this site reading and reading and reading some more about ocing. So I've been messin around with a slight oc and noticed a large temp increase. Stock settings had the cpu at 41c and mobo at 31c at full load. I changed my settings to 235 x 10, htt x 4, dramVolts 2.75, and vCore 1.325 (everything else is stock). Now my temps are cpu 53c and mobo 40c under full load. Are these too high of temps and if so what are good air cooling options? Low $$$ would be great.

Hardware:
asus sli premium
amd 3700
2 x 512 ocz pc3200 platinum
ati x1800

I would try to keep CPU load temps. below 50*C when overclocking. You can try using and aftermarket heatsink or simply reseat your current heatsink with some AS5 (I'm assuming you're using the stock cooler).

Good choice And yes, those temps are extreamly high. How is the airflow in the case? Do you have an intake fan up front with an exhaust fan or two in the rear? I know my comp with that mobo but a X2 3800 Overclocked too over what you have doesn't really get that high unless its under heavy load. I think that the mobo temps you shouldn't really worry you but a BT will deffinently help that processor.....go go 3ghz on air!

I have in intake on the side and one exhuast on the back and then an exhuast for the PSU. I'm wondering if my pc probe II isn't reading right because when i restart bios tells me 39 cpu and 36 mobo and thats after restarting right after a full load. Could pc probII be wrong and if so do i reinstall it to fix it?
