A little over your budget, but the Pentium D 930, for $213 is an awesome deal right now. Overcloaks like a beast too!

And remember, it is a dual core.

True. sorry

miniorty: that motherboard is an older Intel socket. You will NOT be able to run the newest socket CPU's (like the 8xx and 9xx series).

IF you want the newer Intel chips, they will be on socked T (LGA775). J3r3my is correct with his advice. Look into a board with LGA775 and DDR support. Take your pick whether you want AGP (what you currently have) and PCI-E (in case you want to upgrade your Video card also). Make sure to check on the manufacturer's website if the motherboard supports the CPU you want.

On another note, I am not too thrilled about mixing different RAM sizes like you're doing now miniorty. It prevents the RAM from running dual channel, and timings will be negatively affected.

The Pentium D 930 is a good choice. However, I can only find one board that supports that CPU, and also has DDR and AGP: the ASUS P5VD1-X Socket T (LGA 775) VIA PT880 Ultra ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131566 . It's an ASUS, but VIA chipset, so I am not sure about the quality (I would not expect too much overclocking)
