Asus A8N-SLI Premium NIC Problems

Thread Starter
I'm having trouble getting both of my integrated NICs on my Asus A8N-SLI Premium to show up/work. I try installing the included Marvel Yukon (I believe) drivers and they just install over the one NIC I can use or repair it, instead of installing the other NIC. At one time both of the NICs worked, but all over a sudden only one is showing up and I can't remember how I got the other to work.

Any help?

Checklist (including silly stuff)

1) are they both activated in BIOS?
2) do they both show in Divice Manager, and are they enabled?
3) are they both enabled in Network Properties?

I don't think you need to install the driver twice to make them both work? I had multiple networks cards running with one driver just fine, and they weren't even the same brand.

In BIOS it lists Onboard NV LAN and Onboard Marvell LAN, which are both enabled. Only the Marvell NIC is showing up in the device manager. I'm not sure if they're both enabled in Network Properties, but only the Marvell NIC is showing up in Network Connections. (If that's what you mean?)

Previously the only way for me to use both NICs was to install one NIC with Marvell, and the second automatically worked on first boot, but now it's gone.

If the second NIC is enabled in the BIOS, try refreshing the Device MAnger for detection. It may find it and reinstall it. If not try the add hardware.

Here try this. It seems your not the only one having this problem. Ethernetnet controllers have always been a problem with Asus boards.

Half way down the page it talks about changing the PCI id under SP2.

Refreshing the Device Manager yields nothing, and I'm not able to manually install the other NIC.

If you do try any new drivers or BIOS up dates chack ASU's warnings if applicable to avoid crashes. BIOS 1007 addressed the nVidia LAN.

Hmm. My Marvell-drivered NIC is working fine. (Originally it didn't work but I recently fixed it, both worked for a few months.) Now the original is gone. My computer isn't seeing the NIC at all. It's not a missing driver or something of the sort, the NIC just isn't being detected at all.

Did you try Xerx recommendation? Maybe the two network ports are conflicting with each other? Do you have it setup that BIOS assigns PCI addresses and the like, or Windows?

I sure hope I won't get similar problems when I get my new board
