Unless you've been living under a rock since last Thursday, you probably know Seagate leaked details of behemoth 750GB hard drives, which was followed by an official announcement early Wednesday morning. Original claims from Seagate said the drives would ship "earlier than expected," but it appears as though the new drives are already here.

Seagate has not managed to fit more data per platter and has increased the platter count over the previous drives from three to four. This serves to create a hotter and noisier drive.

I am not impressed with these drives. A 500 GB drive will cost far less per GB and has the added benefit of being both cooler and quieter.
