Making a new build silent

Thread Starter
Ok so i just purchased a whole new setup from newegg. The parts are as follows:
i5 760
asus p55 pro mobo
evga superclocked gtx470
ocz 120gb ssd
2x4gb corsair dominator 1600 ram
haf 922 case
corsair 750tx psu
hyper 212 cpu heatsink+fan

I want this computer to be fairly quiet. I plan on overclocking the cpu to 3.2-3.5
My main concern is keep the noise of the video card down, and somehow making the case quieter. I have not received any parts yet, but i want to get an idea of stuff i can do to make it less noisy.

Is it possible to take a material like dynomatt that is used in cars and wrap the inside of the case with it? or some type of light foam that still allows the case to breath? Obviously i will not cover exhaust ports. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

wrong case for silent computing, but you can work with it. For silence you are going to want to go with a rather good watercooling setup. You will have to block both ur cpu and gfx card which will require a 360 radiator with apx 1000 rpm fans. post in the wc section to get some more attention for this build.

I preferably dont want to do watercooling. This computer doesnt have to be silent, just quiet. My current computer is sooooo loud. It has 7 small fans running in it. Is there any case/fan mods i can do ? also cooling the gpu, what is the quietest way to cool it?

Just run all your case fans on low. Your new case uses larger fans which will already be quieter and more effective. If they don't have speed controls, you can get some fan controllers. For the CPU fan just enable Smart Fan in BIOS and allow the motherboard to control it. For the graphics card, just leave the setting on auto. If it doesn't come with one, get one of the EVGA high flow brackets.

Dynamat won't do much because your noise will be coming through the fan grills.
