27" widescreens--Need some sudgestions

Thread Starter
Hey all, I have been looking into getting a 27" widescreen to replace my 19" so i could get the best gaming and movie experience possible. The problem is that I cant find a tv/monitor that has enough reviews to convince me that its a good monitor. I have been looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16889107001R for quite some time now and the reviews on the product (the real one..not Refurb) were prety good. So does anyone have any sudgestions on monitors?? I would basically play games(WoW(any MMO Really), oblivion, and FPS) watch movies with a VCR/DvD player I have and eventually hook a PS3 up to it.

Thanks much!

The monitor in my sig is a 27" widescreen and there are a few of us on the boards that have it.

I personally love it. If you dont mind only playing at a max res of 1280x720 thn it's definately a bargain. It is HD-Ready and the HD picture is damn good...obviously

I think the new ones are N2751w and instead of a DVI connector it has a HDMI connector which Viewsonic says is HDCP compliant

I have the same 27" monitor that gator has... I actually use it as my main TV, so it gets lots of use. I've got it hooked up to my HTPC, DVD player, cable, xbox, gamecube, nes, vcr... It's a great TV/Monitor.

if you are planning on using it as a default monitor you may want to try to get one w/ a higher res though... default is only 1280x720. I can force 1360x780 (I think that's what it is...) but then sometimes the screen isn't centered... not sure what the problem is.

They actually fixed the problem with the new ones, the default res is 1380x768, I only get the off centered res when I can't run 1280x720 in games (only in BF2)

I also have the N2750 and run it in 1280x768 actually and have no problems. When I try to force the 1366x768 or whatever it is, I usually have problems since most games don't support that resolution, but 1280x768 works fine.

Only problem I've had with it is that it shuts off randomly. It'll be fine for about 2-3 hours then will shut off, and continue to do so every 30 mintues or so. It seems to get warm on top and in the front though it's not unbearable and a review I read said it's normal for it to get a little warm. I've already called Viewsonic about getting a replacement and they said once I faxed my info in it'd be a few weeks and they'd have a new one at my door. Been over a month now and no word, so I'm calling in the morning. But I've only heard of this type of problem in 2 reviews out of the hundreds I read, so it must be rare problem

Good luck on the replacement but the heat is actually from the LCD backlight and it does get very hot I must say but it is normal.....and that probably the reason why my room is so damn hot...lol
