7900GT or 7600GT SLI? - Page 2

after seeing my results from the vmod, definately get the 7900GT, but you're going to need better cooling than stock

so look to spend another $55 + 7900GT (if you have a multimeter). $70 more if you dont

I spent $30 since I'm going to watercooling but I'm liking the nearly 200MHz overclock

2x7600 = 1x7800 so I would go with a 7900, but if I were you I would go out and search for a used 7800GT and get more ram then upgrade to a better card that comes supported with DX10

I think this is a really good suggestion. a 7800GT paired with 2gb of RAM will give you performance like a 7900GT and you'll be farther ahead in the long run because you'll have 2gb of RAM instead of only 1gb. Chances are you'll want to upgrade to a dx10 card regardless of what you get now.

Am i the only one who actually does their research?? i go for 7600gt SLI because it is better in real life gaming, stop looking at the specs like 128bit mem interface and 12pipelines then always come to the conclusion of 7900gt better.SLI 7600GT beats 7900GT at least 10% on any game at 1280, 1600 etc. It's only when your upto 2000 then the 7900gt beats it, but at that res the 7900gt will be sweating. Proof:

SLI 7600GT compares to a crapper 7800GTX 512MB, but better 7900GT and 7800GTX 256MB.

if you already have a 7600GT, then for sure go get another, but if you don't it's worth it to get a 7900GT because 2 7600GT will cost much more then a 7900GT.

I agree.
Two 7600GT in SLI should be faster than a single 7900GT but they kill the possibility of an upgrade in the future.
Have a look at this.

I think they are pretty close, but even if the 7600GT's obliterate the 7900GT, I would go for the 7900GT and put it in SLI when the G80's come.
