If it was hot, and you've just been trying to reboot.. try letting it sit for an hour or so. Maybe it was overheating?
I'll answer them all now:-
Not really, normal running, yes, I think so.

My laptop is always overheating. F*****g AMD Athlon Mobile. POS I say. I want one of those now dual core laptops!

Allright men, I don't know what to say, in BIOS can you do something like load safe fail defaults or optimized defaults, that would sound like harddrive failed if it got slower and slower, eventually, if you feel like it, open your laptop and unplug the harddrive, remove the dust between cables... and plug it back in. Make sure it is well connected to the motherboard, my SATA300 Cable is very loose on the motherboard for example.

Remove the hard drive and see if you still have the BIOS errors that you mentioned.

I would rethink this advice. Your battery will not like such a thing and could well be damaged. Condensation will not be your friend either. Yes, there are those who say that this is a fix but I advise against such an action. If you decide to use that advice be sure to remove the battery and do not forget where it is. Do NOT leave it in for a long time.

IF you put anything in the freezer, it should be the hard drive only! You seem to be knowledgeable enough to tinker with it, so I assume it should not be hard to remove it (normally hard drives are fairly easy to remove from a laptop).

However, this is a last resort effort.
