Kingston value RAM

Thread Starter
I just bought 2x1GB Kingston Value Ram DDR 2700 non-ecc from new egg and I noticed that the chips on the module were Smasung. I thouht they were supposed to be Kingston. I saw the same module with the same part number with Kingston chips. Is the Value Ram series any good? I mean it's Kingston assembly right?

Yes, the assembly of the dram and circuit board is Kingston. Usually you will find a decent non-overclocked timing from such chips. The Value usually (not always) means that when you overclock such chips you will have do raise the timing. Often such ram will make 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 7 at 200MHz and anything past this is a testing crapshoot. What are the numbers on the Samsung chips. There should be something like UCC etc.

Just like Ropey says, the chip is Samsung but the rest is Kingston.

I have Corsair XMS2 and the chips are from Micron. There's also infineon and Elpida chips and some others I can't remember.
