I didn't say something bad would happen to people that trash talk. Only they'd be less likely to, which I feel is entirely accurate.

Possibility of a less trash talk gaming environment, but the cost is getting your real name out there. Not worth it.

I think it's all about choice. People should have the right to choose if they want to get their name out there or not. (Like real name for real friends, ID for online friends)
And people DO NOT like it when they have no choice and are forced to expose their real name on the net.

With all the privacy issues of today's internet, I can't believe Apple still try to do ***** like this.

If you take anyone serious for ranting in an online game you are fail yourself. I wouldn't play games that use my real name... i'm playing a damn game, nothing serious. The internets are not serious business tubes... just regular ones. People get drunk/high/etc and play them.. it's like going to a club, no one knows your name just your face (username).

IRL activities are lame. : )

We already know your face from your display picture, it's only a matter of time before we find out who you really are anyway.

Umm yeah. More private info.

Why not give out the address of residence as well? Great idea, right?

I don't know if Steve Jobs was the one behind this stupid idea, but Apple need to realize that they need to listen to their customers more.

They did create some good products and their customer service is usually pretty good(at least in the US). I liked the simplicity of some of their products(but I won't ever switch to a Mac computer), but what I don't like is Jobs' attitude.

From the few articles that I read about Jobs and Apple, it seems like Jobs think it's ok to not listen to the customers, and just give them what HE thinks is a good product, and no one should be allowed to change his masterpiece products, etc.

I may be wrong about this since I didn't read that many Apple/Jobs articles, but if this is true, then I can see Apple going down relatively soon.

Seriously? Anyone know how dangerous that can be?
Yeah I agree, you should be able to choose. First names would be ok I guess, but first and last name? Some people have very unusual names and it would make it very easy to find them in the yellow pages. I know that 99% of people using the service have no intentions of doing that, but it only takes one person to make criminal use of such info.

lolwut? All it'd send out with me is Kenny McCormick, as that's what I put into any real name fields on the internet. Still, dick move, Apple should cease and desist.
