No but you do use After Effects. And I believe there is a Vegas plugin that utilises Cuda... anyway, of course it's upto you - I'm just passing on advice from the guys who build the workstations where I work and trying to save you some money!

Honestly the work I do on AEE is like minimal stuff, if you had the numbers (i will look them up) on the Vegas one, I would be astounded to see what it is.

Good idea to upgrade your OEM "locked" wintel box for a much faster and more powerful build for HD vid editing. What cameras are you going to be working with and what HD format will you be editing? Looks like a nice build.. Sony Vegas..? No CS5, Solidworks, or MAYA on such a nice workstation.. Shame..

Kinda confused about the first statement. But, I primarily edit 1080p/60. I also edit other formats, but the files I am usually editing are HUGE. I use FRAPS, and a PCI capture source for all my capturing.

And CS5, and Solidworks are overrated IMO, MAYA on the other hand is Professional material, wish I could get it.

I've done a lot of research, TRUST ME. Some say you need a lot less, but this is from people who all used BMI with AMAZING results.

Well honestly no, he wasn't right. First of all, they where FAILING. Second, my computer is more than enough to handle that hardware. I sent the my first in to get checked out at BM and it wouldn't work for them either, I got a new one and the same thing happended. They asked me if they could send a usb 3.0 shuttle instead and i took it. Then that started to overheat after a few hours of use and died on me too. (It was next to a fan by the way.) And i did have enough speed to write to. I had 250 MB/sec write speed with my two Spinpoint F4's. I was capturing in 720p in the compresssed format so i didn't even need that much write speed and i was able to capture uncompressed no problem either. Also it wouldn't even work in 1080i with my xbox and my friends after 8 hrs of driver reinstalls and os reinstalls(windows 7 ultimate 64bit and 32 bit). (And yes i set my xbox and the program to the proper settings.) So that was just my experience with that POS company and their product. But, anyways good luck with your build, hopfully you can utilize everything to its potential.

Finally do you have a youtube or anything so i can watch your vids?

Yeah i know thats why i got mine in the first place. I think my batch of them were flawed. I originally got mine from B&H video/photo and they have free shpping and have good customer service. And if you are going to use Sony vegas i can send you my settings if you would like. I think my quality is pretty good. Here's my youtube

Wait.....so are you talking just rendering in Vegas or simply recording from a source such as a Internal Capture card? If so, I am getting Vegas 10 NOW!

Cuda utilization or this firepro card for $400 FireGL 8650. I don't know why I recommend it, my dad uses it with his engineering build with a 980x and 6gb of ram but then again.. He is an engineer using Inventor and CAD civil. Lol good luck with this build though it looks like a really nice build.

Also think about the Antech High Current for your psu choice. Look up JohnnyGurus review of it, I'm sure you will be impressed.
