x1600 gamer edition - Page 2

As said above the X1600 PRO will beat the 6600GT. Dont get the 512mb version of the X1600 PRO though as it only has a 128mb ringbus and cant fully utilize the 512mb of onboard ram.

Everyone knows the x1900xtx beats the 7900gtx, stop trying to deny it.

If you are willing to pay about $200-$250 you can get the x1800gto which is an x1800xl that has 4 gimped pipes (only 12 instead of 16)...
I would wait about a month though, as ATI is releasing new mid-upper range cards (x1900gt, possibly gto, x1700xt, etc) and prices will really be coming down. The x1700xt would actually be a really good choice if they do choose to release a card like this, as it may be around $150-$200...just a little bit more than the x1600pro.

nvidia 7xxx series is crap...No FSAA with HDR? Sad really..
First of all, stop being a fanboy. Second of all, the 7*** series is far from crap. Third of all, in this situation, no one gives a crap wether the X1900XTX beats the 7900GTX, because we're helping this guy choose an AGP card. Help him, don't insult other members and post information that has nothing to do with the question he asked.

If I were you, I'd save up a bit more money and get a better AGP card, like the 6800GS, or if you can spare the cash, a 7800GS. If you really want an ATI, look into the X850XT, but they don't have SM3 like the nVidia cards.

X1600 Pro is faster then a 6600 GT in a lot of situations, but the fact is its not fast enough to warrant a purchase over your current 6600 GT.

You should save for at least an X800 GTO, maybe an X800 XL or 6800 GS for a bit more money.

You are all wrong about the 128mb bus. It can utilize the 512mb if the game utilizes it, but most games won't make much use of it unless you have a better card anyway. I would go with a 6800GS for about $200, a 7800GS for about $290, a X1800XT for about $280, or a X850XT for about $200.

People really need to start reading the threads their posting to.

AGP cards only people, night dagger what exactly can he do with an X1800 XT for his AGP motherboard?

Also AGP X850 XTs go for ALOT more then $200, but on PCIe they can be had for a cool $160 (best mid range deal out there).
