LOL!!! The Lower range ATi x1k were released for people who wanted mid range cards that, had SM3. Both of the cards have SM3 so that is out of the question.

As for which cards you should go for, i believe that the x1600pro is better... and i think (only think) that it can be flashed up to a x1600xt

X1600 pro can'tbe "flashed" to an X1600 XT, because the only things seperating them are the core and memory clock speeds, and because the X1600 Pro uses GDDR2 memory at only 400mhz(800mhz) sometimes a bit slower(780mhz), which is pretty slow for today's cards.

The X1600XT uses GDDR3 memory at 700mhz (1.4ghz), which is just not atainable by DDR2 memory already running at its maximum rated speed (a 300mhz overclock).

Only time it would be possible is with the X1600 pro using only 128mb of faster GDDR3memory, but you would still have to overclock the core and memory and it would have less memory.

Right now on newegg you can get an X1600XT for $140, the extra $35 is definetly worth it over the X1600 pro on PCIe, however they're not available for AGP.
