SuSE right now, I was on Red Hat 9 but my machine was not handling it very well. How's Debian?

Thanks for the heads up ELmo, I've got a second tab going and I'm searching my CP right now.

I've never tried debian before. I've used spin offs of it, like ubuntu etc. I'm using FC5 atm and I love it. SuSE has to be my second favourite. After that, ubuntu. I've touched LAMP but never dived in head first. I set up a server while at work experience with SuSE9.3 and Apache 2.0. I dabbled in PHP while there too.

I've heard good things about FC5, I might try it out when I get my new machine. I still want to try Ubuntu but haven't yet.

I noticed that part of my spec information has shown up under my screenname, but I can't figure out why the rest won't show up. I scoured my CP but couldn't find an option in any of the likely places.

In CP, you'll see a menu on the left. CLick "Edit System Specs" and go ahead

I see what the problem was.

I initially filled out five of the specs and left the rest blank. All it took to display everything was filling in the rest of the information.

I was looking all over the place for a nonexistant checkbox to turn the system specs on.

First newb experience completion: check.

Interesting specs LOL

If you want advice on a new build, post here: http://www.overclock.net/amd-general/ (if you want to go the AMD route) or here: http://www.overclock.net/intel-general/ if you want to go Intel.

Plenty of us will help you out in picking the good stuff.

Appreciate the links Chozart, that's the first topic I want to learn about. I've been considering AMD over Intel but I need to keep researching what's most compatible with Linux.

This is off topic, but does anybody else's editor only show the editing tools? I can use (and actually prefer) the vB code but the smilies and formatting options are not available. It's kind of a tease, really.

Edit: I just changed the setting to a plain text box. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Hi, Welcome to the forums, glad to have you onboard!
If you are unsure about your system specs, download and install PC Wizard 06, this will detect the hardware you currently have running.
