First Build In A Long Time: Budget Gaming Micro ATX i3

Thread Starter
Hey all, working on my first build. Kind of. I haven't built a computer in years, so I'm a little out of it. I would love suggestions or input. My goal is really simple: running World of Warcraft on Ultra settings. It really doesn't require a lot. I think what I have is adequate... but would love input.

Also, a few pieces of the hardware I cannot/won't change for one reason or another. I'll mark them with a *. Any prices listed were the cheapest I found on the net from a reputable seller. This will be a long term project for me over the next few months as I find deals on any/all of these things. I'll update as I find deals or have questions. I do plan on doing some case modding as well, but nothing extreme. I would love your support and help!

Thanks!

Already Own:
Case*: NZXT Vulcan
Optical Drive*: Sony Optiarc CD/DVD Burner

Pretty Sure:
CPU: Intel Core i3-560 3.33GHz ($120)
Motherboard*: ASUS P7H55-M PRO ($95)
RAM G.SKILL 2 x 2GB DDR3 1333 ($55)

Not Sure:
Video Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 460 768MB ($175)
(I would like to stay with the GTX 4xx series)
PSU: Antec TruePower New TP-650 650W ($75)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB ($65)

If I Have Extra Cash (lol):
Fans
Xigmatek Loki CPU Cooler ($30)
Xigmatek 80mm ($5)
Xigmatek 120mm LED Blue x3 ($30)
Xigmatek 200mm LED Blue ($25)
Speakers
If decent drive bay speakers exist, I might consider it. I like to be portable, but don't want to have to put a headset on all of the time.

Thanks for any input!!!

You will easily max out WoW. No concerns there.

I've always liked i3 builds. They're really good bang for your buck and underrated in my opinion.

Have you considered waiting for the Sandy Bridge i3? You'll see much better performance clock for clock if you wait a month.

Thanks! I was hoping i3 would be good for it's money as well.

I might just do that. I actually won't have this all paid and built until March anyway. It's kind of a long term project for me. I might take advantage of Sandy Bridge or just take advantage of the price drops of the older generation. It really just depends on the prices of everything. It's not a big deal if I am a generation behind. I think this computer would easily last a few years before I would need an update.

Is the PSU too much? Or not enough? It was one of the only things I questioned myself on.

Your PSU is adequate. You could get by with a quality 500w though. 650w isn't too overkill so I wouldn't call it a bad choice.

You have the option if you want to save a couple bucks if you wish though.

You could go AMD and get a quad setup for the same price or similar. Preference though at this point.

TO each his own. I just go for whatever is cheapest at the time I do my build. It's all about performance per dollar for me. When I build my i7 I got my 930 for 200 but when I built this one the x6 was 150 and the 930 went up to 300... not worth the extra money when the performance was on par 8P. Not to mention the mobo would have cost me more since I know a hardware reviewer that had this board laying around 8P.

I hear ya! Thanks for your input. I'll think about it, but I have been seeing really good deals on i3s. The i3-560 I found for $110, and it'll only go down in January. I'll see where prices are at then.
