problem with lag

hey everyone. im running a wirless g adapter connected to a WRT54G both made by linksys. with this rig and my last rig ive experienced lag every 35 or so seconds in games like BF2 and NBA live. ive tryed port fowarding but that didnt help. i dont remember having a prob in cod2 though, any thoguhts?

Have you made sure there is no Interference with the signal such as a microwave or Wireless phones or anything else that uses a Wireless medium. Try moving the router to a differnt location for better signal strength.

Definitly. i had the same problem with my router at home. Move the router as close as possible and or as high as possible

hmm im afraid thats not possible to move it. the signals always at very good w/ 54mbps, its basically right below me 20 or so feet away and i dont think theirs anything really interfeiring.

Are you running an encrypted signal using WEP as this cuts the bandwidth in half and can cause lag.

nope, but ive been planning on putting protection on it lol. i was considering someone might be leeching bandwith but i cant think of anyone within 100 feet of the house whod do that considering theirs a bunch of networks here and the lag is every time i play. i usually just ignore it but it takes the fun out of the game especially when your flying a plane it lags for 5 seconds and you end up in the water.

I do get you there..Well put WEP on and see if its the case someone is using your connection, i highly doubt this is the problem though. Something which came across my mind is have you updated the firmware on that router as this can help.

someone else had this problem with my wrt54g and solved it by downloading punk buster. im going to go test it.
