Northy 's specs

Thread Starter
I'm trying to put together a rig for my buddy & he gave me a Northwood cpu. I've never had a northwood so I don't know what are the safe vcore & temp for the northy. Any helps will be appreciated as I plan to OC a little for him.

Thanks for reading

The highest V-CORE for a Northwood is 1.7 i would keep it to 1.6 though for safety and cooler temps. you will want to keep that Northwood under 50c as it has a threshhold of 70c.

I have a northwood aswell, and i get nervouse even thinking about the voltages. I hear they like to die at around 1.7volts no matter what kind of cooling you have. So when ENTERPRISE1701 says 1.7volts max he/me really mean max.

Yes i really do mean THE MAX is 1.7 The Northwood core is very sensitive to large V-cores so 1.7 can kill it so keep it to 1.6-1.65 at max to be safe.

thanx guys , I'll keep that in mind. I cant change the voltage on his board anyways .. so it'll stay around 1.525... temp is around 40C idle & I haven't put a load on it yet.
