The [Official] Lian Li PC-A05 Club - Page 239

Hello

Take this opportunity to greet and this is my first post here. I am looking for all possible information about Lian Li PC-A05. I think it installed on a Gigabyte motherboard ATX G1.guerrilla, i7 920, Noctua NH-14D, 750 W thermaltake thoughpower (17cm) and two graphics cards: Sapphire radeon 6950 (27.3 cm) and Asus GTX 275 (26, 7 cm). In the Lian Li website I read that you can only install graphics cards 27 cm in length or less. But at the beginning of this post I read the FAQ: "This is Entirely dependent on the layout of your motherboard. If you look at the pictures of the case You Can See That if your first PCI-E slot sits in the first two slots nearest Then the CPU socket Will Be the max length 10.5a around € Because the card up against the butt Will 3.5a € cage. 11 "if You have HDD in the top slot clear. If your GPU sits in the 3rd or 4th slot to fit Than You Can GPU 13A € That is long. "
I want to ask if in my case, I could install the sapphire radeon 6950 (27.3 cm) in the Lian Li PC A05.

Thanks for your answers and excuse my bad English.

ehh.... that was WAY more complicated than it needed to be...

Yes a 6950 will fit in an A05NB. unless of course your using long optical drives. I have a 580 in mine and it fits snug <1" with my hdds in the optic bays reverse mounted.

For anyone wanting to replace any of the stock thumbscrews/screws in the A05- Use the M3 threading .50 thread pitch, 4 or 5mm, 4mm is perfect for optical drives and PCI slots. the 5mm is perfect for replacing the side and top panel screws and the Power supply thumbscrews (I wouldn't do all of them, I needed to replace one of them to fit my Front panel header mod). The black oxide screws that FTW PC sells work great.

Anyway, this thread needs MOAR build pics thumb.gif so here is my work from today (Please excuse the crappy pics, misplaced my camera so all I have is my tablet)-

I want to put some sort of a fine mesh between the panel and the ports, just to stop them looking so bare, but that is another days work smile.gif

I think you are worrying too much about it. it is hard to photograph what it really looks like because photo's show details like cracks or defects that the eye never notices.. I think its fine. But if you want to you could get some rubber u channel to go around your cut to make it look more flush

Welcome to the club. Glad to see you made you way here.
I already posted this in OMPT but I figure I wanna share this to you guys too here in A05 club, also ideas/comments on my plan are welcome biggrin.gif

FINALLY I made up my mind on which way to cool my gtx470.
I've decided to go back air on my 2500K and ghetto mount the antec 620 to the gtx.
So I just ordered a True Spirit to cool my sandy.
I've not yet made a decision on how to set my fans though.
I got two 1850rpm GT's, one 1450rpm GT, one noctua P12(which I hate), two S-flex 1600rpm (which I also hate) and a 140 TR X-Silent at my disposal.
Maybe I'll keep the AP-15's on the antec, put the AP-14 on the True Spirit and keep the X-Silent as top fan like it is currently but as exhaust instead.
But what to put in the front then as the AP-14 will be on the TS.. Argh having to make decisions..
And then the question about where to mount the rad when its on the gtx, sure the hoses are lengthy enough to reach the rear fan slot but I don't know whether the hoses will kink because of the angle they have to go to reach the rear fan slot and I'm not on the mood grabbing a dremel to my hand.

Started working on my build again. Added a filter to th top three fans. I'm thoroughly satisfied by it but It should help managed my dust problem.

Just got a powerder coated A05 (first version), but I can't figure out how I'm supposed to install the front exhaust fan confused.gif. It looks like I need to remove the HDD cage, but it's riveted in. Any ideas?

Well first thing that comes to mind is that can't you slide the fan in place from under the cage near the psu?
E: what wait a minute, is the cage really riveted? As far as I know the stock a05's have the cage attached with four screws.

Yes, it's riveted. The new A05N and A05FN models have drive cages with the 4 screws. Doesn't seem like there's any way to slide it in from the bottom or sides :/
EDIT: Some early pics of my build

Screwed the fan on the outside for now, but can't get the front on anymore.
