Morning gents.

Just a quick question. Picked up a midi and was a little disappointed with the size (thought it would be smaller than it was), so I've been looking at the a05n as a new home for my i7.

I unfortunately have a non-modular Corsair 850 TX psu. Was wondering if anyone had any idea if it'd fit? There are a ton of cables that need to be packed somewhere (2 spare pci-e, 4 or so sata/peripheral cables).

breakdown of the psu here.

Really trying to avoid picking up a new psu - just trying to find a small case.

Is it still under warranty? Just RMA it and get a modular one back wink.gif

anyway is quite difficult to install a non modular PSU in small casing. I have a Seasonic X series and I have hard time organizing the wire because of the horizontal hard disk mounting and weird 2.5" harddisk position.

you won't get a modular one by RMAing. i just got my tx650 back and i love it. biggrin.gif

Hey, I'm new to these forums but I just ordered my A05nb! Can't wait to get started. biggrin.gif

I've been looking through mostly this thread, and I've been wondering about airflow. I didn't see anything exactly pertaining to my question, but sorry if this is a repeat. I plan on doing a setup with 2 x 140mm intake fans on the top of the case and a push/pull 120mm intake by the cpu, then a single 120mm exhaust fan out the front.

My question is, is this too much intake and not enough exhaust? Would cutting it down to 1 x 140 mm be better?

Here's a picture of what I mean:

465

My concern is that I will have such high positive pressure that each individual fan will become less efficient and will push less air than if I had lower positive pressure. Another alternative would be to reverse the CPU fans but that feels like going against the mantra of the a05nb. tongue.gif

I also saw some people cut exhaust ports in front of the 120mm exhaust fan over on hard forum, something I'd also much like to avoid.

I also plan on using aluminum mesh filter/grills for the inlets.. not sure if that's relevant. Might reduce positive pressure though.

Spent a few bucks at Micro Center today. Got a 2500k, GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3, and 8GB of 1333 XMS3. Now (almost) everything is black and it looks much better than the rainbow config I had before.

Also, I've been thinking...should I make the 140mm at the top of my case intake instead of exhaust?

I would think so.

Cold air would go right into the GPU fan then exhausted out the back, then the "trickle down" cool air will just go into the airstream from the back intake and CPU fan and then exit out the front exhausts.

I have a a05-FNB...

I revered the fans for the front and back, but the front fan seems to be creating a lot of rattling noise. Could this be due to the hard disk blocking it and the pressure is being push back?

Well, let me tell you a little about my computer. I have a Lian Li A05fN case from the first time I seen it i fell in love with it. It was a small case with just enough room for all the stuff I need in a computer and It looked great to, with none of the flashy crap. The components I have are as follows:

Lian Li A05fn
Asus P8Z68-V GEN3 motherboard
Intel i7-2600K cpu clocked to 4.9GHz
CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB Memory Model CML16GX3M4A1600C9B
Corsair Force Series 3 180GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
ASUS EAH6950 Video Card
iStarUSA BPU-124V2-SS Hot-Swap Cage
SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold Power Supply
LITE-ON DVD Writer
AFT XM5U Card Reader
Corsair H60 cooler on video card
Corsair H80 cooler for cpu ( works great when it doesn't sound like ****, doing a third RMA right now should get it back in about 3 days)

I cut wholes in the top and bottom of the case for 120MM fans (three in the top and two in the bottom) so I have a total of 10 fans 120mm fans in the case. I am a little ashamed to say what kind but they are Rosewill ROCF-11004 Hyperborea Case fans they are just like Akasa Apache S-Flow PWM fans for haft the price and so far I am very happy with them. They are quite at idle and cool very well when I am pushing the computer. At first I picked up 6 Delta AFC1212D PWM fans, they are great fans too but they are just a little loud for a computer in my room, they were bearable but I change my mind after about two weeks and I decided I wanted a almost silent computer, but after spending so much on the delta fans I didn't want to spend so much on new fans just in case I didn't like them either, so I went with the rosewill fan and so far I am happy with them.

Some picks of my computer:
