All right yall I need some help, So have two MSI 7970 Lightnings stuffed in this beast, and needless to say they get HOTTTTT, I already have a dual 140mm cutout up top with two noctuas in it so I think I have my airflow already maxed out, so I think water is the way to go, So I have my 2500k with an H80 already so I just need to think of a solution for the 7970's,Thats where YOU COME IN :thumb:So I have an Sr1 480 laying around from a previous build but this will in no way fit inside the A05, its way to long, so I was thinking maybe have a rad outside of the case, but this just bothers my OCD, so do yall know of any rigs with beast water cooling in it, or a way to maybe have one of those square phobya rads on the outside so it looks decent with the case,Thanks in advance for the opinions,CT
Quotes not working right on my phone but to the guy with the 79xxred cards ... Ran into the same thing with my 6950's, ended up going with the red mod check it out in the ati/amd video card cooling section ... world of difference now. Shoot me a pm and I will answer any questions. There is a bracket now that fits a fan to cool the vrms also.

Not really the place, but if you want a stock usb 2 one, I can sell you it cheapish. I won't be using it, and its sitting in a box atm. PM me if interested.

If I ever end up WCing that was the idea I was going with... internal rad across the entire top and rip out the 5.25" (I don't use CD drives anyways and have HDDs in it's place) Then just make a false floor and throw them under there with a few modders mesh vents or something. The only reason I have not WCed is because I do not enjoy maintenance of any sort, even dust preterbs me.

Doing a fill port and drain port in mine. Should fill in 30 min tops and full drain in seconds. Never WCed or case modded before, but this setup should be "maintenance free" except for a periodic water change.

Finally almost done with my carPC after a year (God its nice to have the center console back in and cup holders back)............. will most likely start on the case the week after next and try and finish by early May (IB launch+shipping time). Will post a build log when I start. Going from an ATCS840 to an A05nb is a nice change of pace. It really is a great modders case.

Also, personally planning on running SSD only. Music is my only real space consumer, and I can move anything to an external if needed.

Hi guys,

I am thinking of getting the A05NB, but am having second thoughts.

I am currently using a H70 and have 2 x 3.5" HD and 1 x SSD.

I was actually going with removing the HD cage and use it for a push-pull setup with the h70.

So my question is if I were to remove the HD cage, does it need any drilling or cutting?

Last but not least, coming from a Corsair 600T, how many C degree will I expect for the CPU and GPU to increase if I switch to the A05?

HDD cage comes out with 4 screws. GPU may run hotter that the 600T. CPU shouldn't be much different if you mount the rad on the back and pull air in.

ahh..thanks for the info.

Been browsing for the last 30 pages or so and have not seen a single Silver build.

Are the silver color not that appealing? I am trying to match my corsair k60 mechanical keyboard which is bare aluminum color.

Also, I have two options here in my country.

They have the older A05 only in silver for $100 and the newer A05FN only in black for $120.

Which one would all of you go for?

If you are worried about GPU temps, A05NB all the way, FNB will require much more modding to get the same performance especially depending on card size. this might give you another idea on how to mount everything.

450
450

I have x2 2TB WD greens mounted in the 5.25 with drive silencers, But you can get other configs that fit x3 HDDs in the 5.25 + add a fan to the mix. My SSD is neatly tucked underneath my PSU.

I also vinyl wrapped my PSU but have not updated my pic yet. Working on rebuilding a huge desk i got off of Craigslist for $40 thumb.gif.

Ah thanks for the inpuit.

I assume the gpu temps differ because of the invertex atx layout vs non-inverted?

But if I go with the A05NB, I have to mod for a top blow hole and drill the rivets to get the HDD cage out am I right?

Such a dilemma, both has it pros and cons.

Anymore suggestions?

Also can anyone link me to a A05 silver build?

Yeah, the non-inverted mobo + front PSU config limits GPU length as well as creates a nasty air pocked below it as the GPU cuts off airflow if it is big enough.

The top mod is not 100% necessary, they also sell prefab tops with a 140 hole I think.
HDD cage requires 0 drilling to remove, it is all screws.

Look for a guy named PB4UGO or something like that, he has a build similar to mine ( his build inspired my white theme) but uses the silver version. IMO the silver looks just as good, possibly better if your room/ build has features to match. I just have a lot of black, so matching was a nice plus to the black one as well as the white/black contrast.
