Welcome to the club. The tray cut may not work out well depending on your board/cpu cooler.

Ugh so I recently picked up a second GTX 285 for $50, as a quick performance boost since I dont care for DX11+ and I'm on 1680x1050. Now I'm running into some questionable issues. Which I didn't plan for, since I never really thought about SLI before.

GPU1 *top* : idles at 45-50C & loads at 60-70C
GPU2 *bottom* : idles at 55-60C & loads at 70-80C

Just for reference-
CPU : idle at 45C

I'm worried that the bottom card is going to die soon or something because of the heat it's under for idle and load. Am I just worried for no reason?

Here's a pic of the airflow in the case as of now. All GT AP-15s.

Just to clarify the arrows next to the GPUs. There's heat coming out the GPUs, and there's very cold air coming out the vents to the side of the GPU.

HEYA Buddie! I expect to see an update in official room pics shortly tongue.gif.

Update:

I just finished making an adapter so I can run my 5 fans off a 4 fan controller. both top 120s are on the shame channel now and have plenty of output. I also switched the front fan around so I'm all intake on the lower half and exhaust on top.

I was going to solder together a y connector (x2 female 3 pin to x1 male 3 pin) but had to crimp it instead since my dad is the least organized person in the world when it comes to tools, I was surprised to find what I did... tongue.gif

So I just ordered everything in my sig rig. I already have the a05 and I went with the one that includes the top panel with the 140mm cutout. I'm planning on replacing all the fans including the ones on my d14 but not sure what to go with. Thinking ap15s but that obviously won't work with the 140. Any ideas?

Edit: Going for performance while still being pretty quiet. The only reason I'm planning on replacing the noctua fans is cause they're butt ugly.

You could always paint the noctua's... Just make sure to run them at a very low speed (add a resistor) when you spray them so they do not become unbalanced.

I'd rather not mess with painting. Still looking for ideas on the 140 since I'm sure the lian li fan isn't the best.

Cougar Vortex fans are said to be pretty good, and come in both a 120mm and a 140mm version. It is orange though, so it might not be to everyone's liking
