There is only about 25 mm of space between the frame and front panel so you would have to cut a vent in the front. I'm not sure how much it would help also. I imagine that it would let air exhaust a lot better through it though. It could be done but I don't recall seeing anyone that has done it.

What I was thinking on mine is to drill a series of grill holes in the front panel for venting, and then put one of the Scythe Slipstream 12mm fans in on the outside of the frame, freeing up space inside to remove the stock HDD bay and put in something similar to the Lian Li flat drop bays that got discontinued. I think that will give better airflow and a clean mod for the front panel.

and in other news, I've got 2 120mm fan grills coming in this week so I can finally do my top panel blowholes.

Rookie mods going on here. Rookie photo too. by the looks of it tongue.gif
Close to being finished with what I want to do.
I thought I'd see if i could get any thoughts on how the cooler is mounted.
Deciding whether to leave it as is and cover both fans, or-
Move the pull to the other side of the mount.
As is and with a window, pull is slightly visible.
Aluminum or black for the cover(s)?
The back fan cover will be alum.
I know modding is all about what the individual likes/wants, but what would you do?

(I love the fact that I randomly found that case...and this awesome 'club'. Awesome work on this website. This is my first build and everything on here is inspiring.)

Thermalright X-Silent 140
Noctua's are way too expensive compared to this fan. And IMO (I have/have had both so I know) the X-Silent is quieter while providing more than enough airflow. It also is good for horizontal mounting, no clicking no extra noise and so on.
Plus it's a real 140mm fan and you don't need to fiddle with 120->140mm adapters.
Also afaik, martinm210 has said that for low speed 140mm=X-Silent, high speed 140mm=Aerocool Shark.

You can take a listen at the X-Silent

Don't remember his opinion on the P14 and couldn't find a video of the P14 in martinm210 channel either.

Edit.
Also I must say that if you're going for the ultimate low noise solution, the X-Silent is even better.. P14 is 1300rpm@12v ~700rpm@6.5V (starting voltage). X-Silent starts at 7V already, 900rpm@12V ~525rpm@7V.
I don't remember the exact voltage range of the P14 (maybe animal0307 could chime in on that?) but according to my experience the X-Silent can still spin at 5V no problem which mean it's spinning ~370-400rpm@5V. If the P14 would spin at 5V then it would be under 600rpm closer to 550rpm actually. But the speed depends on other fans in your case and whether or not it has any obstacles in front of it like fan filter or as for the 120mm fan slot there is the HDD cage.

And since I'm a low noise freak, 120mm fan anything higher than 700rpm is a no no and for 140mm fan anything higher than 600rpm is a no no.
As the fan gets bigger, the speed of the tip of the fans blade gets much faster and ergo more noise.
