Ya that's what I'm trying to do. The problem is that i threw the receipt away, and i bought it with cash jealoussmiley.gif But it looks like I'm at least gonna get a new one from where i bought it at least smile.gif After that I'll probably mail NZXT too. Yea, I'm really lucky that it happened when i was looking at the computer. Imagine this happening in my tree case when everyone was asleep ohno-smiley.gif

^^^^ That is totally crazy, and scary.

I just got my new Seasonic SS-660XP, only problem is, my motherboard died on me. I've got a replacement on the way, but I won't be able to finally power up my beautiful PC-A05FNB until it arrives. Hopefully sometime next Wednesday I will be up and running.

I am planning my PC-A05FNB build and would like some advice. I am planing on adding two 140mm intake fans, 1 to top stock opening, and 1 in the side access panel to help bring fresh air to the GPU (one day SLI). Below is my intended diagram. Sorry for the simplicity, I am at work and only have access to paint.

What kind of fans should I get for the 140mm? I am leaning toward Corsair AF-140 since they are decent and cheap, on sale now at newegg for $15 each with a coupon. Or should I pony up and get Noctua NF-A14 140mm for $23 each at Amazon.

My theory is 2x 140mm should intake more air than the 2 stock 120mm can exhaust, so I'll maintain positive pressure. I plan on adding magnetic filter screens to the 140mm intakes to reduce dust. My only concern is that the 140mm top intake will be blocked by the NH-D14. I could switch it to an exhaust, and turn the front 120mm to an intake, but then I would be taking in the hot air from the PSU back into the system.

I appreciate your opinions and ideas.

Thanks

Try back and side in with front out. No fan running in top.

Use fans with a couple mm of H2O pressure rating. Reason is cases have resistance just like coolers. Filter, grill, HDD cage, cabling, etc. all add up... and the simple truth is it's pressure differential that moves air.. pushing (positive pressure) or pulling (negative pressure) is what makes it move. wink.gif

I like TY-140 series fans but they are not as well priced in America as in Europe.

The Kaze Maru 2 / Slip Stream 140 ()is another 140mm fan I'm hearing good things about.

TY-140 and KM2 PWM review
http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/120mm_and_140mm_fan_comparison,22.html

I like using PWM fans on case and cooler and using the motherboard CPU fan PWM control for all of them. Gelid PWM splitter with molex plug for PSU power works great. This allows all fans to spin at same speed as CPU fan. As CPU works / get hot fans increase in speed as airflow is needed. If GPU fan is PWM you can do the same with a fan supplying air to GPU. Not as simple as haven't found a comercial PWM splitter for GPU.. Same design just smaller 4pin PWM connecters.

Maybe add a bottom intake/exhaust vent?

I'm modding an old PC-50 case. Same size as A05 with PSU upper left side. Can't decide weather to move PSU to bottom front like A05 or use the AXP-100 cooler that will fit perfectly as is and modify the stock 80mm front fan to 120mm and add 1 or 2 140mm fans in bottom... also have a Macho HR-02, Silver Arrow and Phanteks TC14PE I could use if I move PSU to front... Decisions, decisions.

I still believe this is without a doubt the best airflow configuration for the A-05fn models. Every major component gets cool air and also gets its hot air exhausted effectively.

Don't know about A05 but W/ FN this fits nicely. For me I just cut a slit so it would extend to the bottom of the 3.5 and used a slim fan but 120x25mm fits too. I have front exhuast, but either way. I live in a dusty desert and have the case slighty pressurized and my other 3 are intake. I agree with bottom fan(s) instead of side panel.

^^^^ Thanks for the help WompWomp, Doyll, and EvilTwin.

I finally got my system up and running. I would place a fan in the bottom, but I really like the SSDs there. I frequently unplug my drives, and they are very easy to unplug there.

@Doyll, great idea on the PWM splitters, if I get PWM fans, I will definitely go that route.

@WompWomp, I am hoping that a 140mm side fan will be just as effective as the bottom fan you have. Other than that change, my airflow will be identical to yours. My plan is to add the two 140mm to the top and side, and then remove the drive cage for better airflow.

I have 3 2.5" drives and 1 3.5" drive I still will be using, so I figured I could buy this OWC Multi-Mount that lets you mount a 3.5"&a 2.5" drive in 1 5.25" bay (it has vibration dampeners too). I am dialing down my previous 4.6ghz 1.3v OC to something with less volts in hopes it will help with case temps. I can't really test anything until I buy fans, so I have to run without a side panel for now.

On another note the Season Platinum SS-660XP is quite nice.

PC-A05FN beginning build.

If you were looking to house 2 2.5" drives and 1 3.5" drive in a single 5.25" bay this would work perfectly.

Used one for awhile until I got rid of the mechanical drive. You can remove the front plate and still use the Lian Li bay cover.

Do you think you can fit an H80 or H100 into one of these?
