Yeah, I actually have a 360mm rad in the top.

Hi there, I own one of the original models (PC-A05B) which I bought in 2007 which is currently unused in the garage. I am considering revitalizing it for my new system, and had a couple questions.

I plan on using it as a headless server probably using an i5-6500, and will not be needing a graphics card. For my last build in that case (an E4400 CPU, G33 chipset), temperatures were fine, but I would love for it be quieter. Does anyone have any good recommendations for fans I should look at? I have heard good things about Noctua fans, but not sure which to get.

Also, anyone had luck converting the top USB-2.0 ports to USB-3.0? I know Lian-Li has made some replacement kits but seem to be hard to find in the US. I do not want to pay too much, so if it is too much, I will just tape that top panel shut.

Thanks for any guidance!

Can the newer A05 FNB case be modified to support an inverted motherboard easily?

I finally bought compression fittings and wiped dust from few parts from my closet. I would try to put all of this in case, successfully i hope so.

Pump top and rad have some imperfections from previous builds and owners, but ill manage that.

RIG is my old one, with new graphic card, MSI gtx 960.

And, ill try to fit rad on bottom plate. I dont want to ruin clean lines of case itself.

Just got my vintage Lian Li PC A05 with the inverted motherboard from an ebayer, looks amazing and I can't wait to build into it. I am considering my top vent options, this case is in such perfect condition I am not sure I want to butcher it, maybe I should buy a replacement roof panel and cut that. It is such a beautiful case. thumb.gif I have a few rad grills so that is a possibility, just not sure i want to hack up something so nice. Not sure how else to get cool air to the top though.

The LIAN LI T-LM14B-2 could work if I could find one, not sure if the single 140 provides enough flow though.

Probably going to cut a back hole for the CPU socket, I can't stand removing the motherboard any time I want to change cooler or processor setup.

I run in some serious troubles. It fit perfectly but cant add power supply cables biggrin.gif At fist, I wanted to put radiator on bottom, but power supply is too long. Then I decided to go with option 2.

Finished top panel:

Hi guys, at the moment I have a fractal R3 case but would love something smaller without changing my atx motherboard and I came across the PC-A05FNA silver case, and it would be perfect on my desk if I can fit all my stuff in....

I have a XFX R9 290 that is 29cm long, will the card fit with all the hdd drive bays in use?

Also hows the cable management in this case, can alot of cables go behind the motherboard tray without having to sit on the side panel to get it on? As you can see I am a tidy freak and cant settle if the inside of the case is a mess..

It was actually started on 2008 and 6 years after, the blue print of the case is about to complete. Last year I actually bought a PC-A05FN planning to start another project on it but I really don't like the design on the front and the interior and sold the case. I decided to continue working on my PC-A05 and finally, many related parts I was looking for are available on market now and so do many other components. While they all arrived, I spent 2 weekend days to finish it on 2014/3/15. First step is remove everything and prepare for some cuttings!

Basically is cutting one area at the front

Not much different on the front looking

But it changed a lot behind the cover

However, one of the mobile rack required some modification to active the hard drive activity light

Although not much changed on outside....

6 years passed, lots hardware changed inside. Blu-ray burner, Seasonic 80+ platinum fanless power supply, Asus Xonar D2X audio card, new video card, new cpu, new motherboard.... With new hard drive mobile racks, now I can install much longer side and high performance video card.
