Heat Test 1, Ikem's Configuration

Untitled.jpg

test%201.png

Heat Test 2, Regular Lian Li flow, mainstream layout.

Untitled%20-%20Copy.jpg

test%202_flipped.png

As expected CPU temps went down, and GPU temps went up. I was worried because the GPU temps went wayyyy up. hitting 82C on the mainstream layout. Im not sure what the TIMPIN 1,2,3 are, but if they are northbridge and southbridge, i have HR-05s on them so they have better than stock cooling.

Im going to run the mainstream config for a while to see how it works when gaming, idling, etc.

I think...

hot air from the cpu is not getting to that front 120mm exhaust, and is getting sucked upwards but the flow of the top 2 140mm fans. then since the gpu has such a strong fan is sucks up that warm air, resulting in the higher temps. The lower mobo temps are possibly due to the bottom intake shoving cool air on the north bridge. The cpu temps are lower just because it has a intake right beside it, instead of having it 200mm away. the gpu temps scare me though... it started articafting at the end.

here are my theory diagrams

now someone with a non ref gpu heatsink would have different results because the heat would not escape the case right away.

just wondering, has anyone ran the mainstream layout but with the front fan on intake and only using the top fans as exhaust?

I was actually thinking about doing that in the future after I find somebody with a dual 120mm Radgrill for a good price. So, if anyone can help me find a deal then I can test that setup and report my findings cool.gif

Since we are sharing airflow diagrams, here is mine.
airflow1.jpg
airflow3.jpg

Im on full water cooling, so mine is a little different. The lower rad is offset all of the way to one side to clear the RAM slots. I haven't decided on my GPU's yet, they will most likely be the last item i buy. I wanted to maintain positive air pressure to keep dust to a minimum.

I want to use that diagram even without a watercooling setup

I think you need more than one 120mm exhaust fan to get the hot air out the case or a VERY powerful one in the front.

Why ? the hot air will escape by positive preasure not only from the front fan ?

There aren't that many holes in this case for the hot air to escape from even with the positive pressure.

Maybe I'm being biased because I like having balanced pressure cool.gif

yes, having the hot air trapped in the center of the case could be bad, thats why mine is set up having the the center of the case have cool air.

by that reasoning, all the open holes in the case are at the rear, by where you have intake fans. the hot air would have to fight the fans to escape.
