its an older mid tower I believe, but the HDD bay is up above where any long GPU would go, so no worries

so a gtx 580 only needs ~250W for its self, a 6870 needs ~150W, why would the 6970 be up around 300W?

I hope its 250W, because surely a seasonic 520W 80+bronze could handle that

Oh, sorry Mit Namso, don't think of me as being rude, i just did not see the second post. You, coming from a pentium 4, the 6870 is a AMAZING CARD, that can max out all games 1080p 4x aa (yes sir, crysis and metro no, but very close too). A 6970 is a bit overkill, and i think that CPU might bottleneck.

You'll be happy with a 6870! (my son is)

"550 Watt or greater power supply with one 150W 8-pin PCI Express® power connector and one 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connector recommended." when i did maths at GCSE, we did something called addition. 150w + 75w = 225w. That's what the card requires. AMD recommended 550w for MB, CPU, HDD, fans ect.
